From The Other Significant Others by Rhaina Cohen.
“Having fewer close friends is associated with loneliness, and loneliness is linked to a variety pack of negative health outcomes, from high blood pressure to depression to cognitive decline. Compared to women who lose their husbands, men who lose their spouses experience a much more pronounced and long-lasting spike in loneliness and depression; they’re more likely than women to die by suicide. Researchers attribute these differences to women having more diverse systems of social support.”
I wonder if it that would be true of the ‘boons?
Fo sho, why would we be immune from the status quo?
Actually, I mistakenly thought your question was about the sentence related to homophobia and homohysteria and emotional intimacy. While obviously related, the paragraph paints a dark picture that I don’t think applies to our running posse. I think we do a good job of prioritizing our friendships, getting together, and supporting one another. Of course, we could always have deeper convos, but at least we’re having convos!
