Yes, this piece is pretty close to my view. In fact, in class today I described Zawahiri as “lacking any kind of charisma a successor needs” which is close to what the article says. He is also spot on in that democracy and civil societies are what the region needs, and the “Arab spring” is hopeful. I guess now all we can do is watch what happens in Yemen, Syria, Libya, Egypt and elsewhere and hope that the people are able to overcome the tyrants.
